Habitat for Humanity of Butte County (Habitat Butte) has built 51 homes since its founding 30 years ago.
Now, as a result of the devastating Camp Fire, we are significantly increasing the number of homes we build each year, with a goal of building 8-10 homes a year.
We are dependent on grants and charitable donations to finance our plans to get more affordable homes built in Butte County.
In addition to the construction side of our affiliate, we operate a ReStore that generates revenue through the sale of donated building and household items that supports the affiliate at-large.
*Job Title:* Assistant Construction Manager *General Description:* The Assistant Construction Manager is responsible for carrying out daily construction tasks and providing training, supervision, and support for volunteers and homebuyers on our job sites.
This position serves as a leader and coach for volunteers of all skill levels, and provides ongoing assistance to the Construction Manager to ensure that each project is run effectively, efficiently, and safely.
This position works closely with the Construction Manager in addition to the Operations Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Homeowner Services Manager.
The Assistant Construction Manager plays a critical role on the construction team.
*Major Responsibilities and Duties:* ➢ : ● Use knowledge and expertise to perform all aspects of construction ● Practice and oversee quality control for all aspects of construction ● Organize job sites and material storage areas to be clean and functional ● Use materials efficiently, keep materials properly stored, return unused materials ● Maintain tools and equipment, communicate any issues or needs ● Promptly communicate with Construction Manager regarding any on-site issues, updates from subs, material needs, deliveries, schedules, and inspections ● Set and meet specific goals for critical tasks ● Help to finish builds thoroughly and efficiently with no completion lists ➢ : ● Conduct daily safety trainings with volunteers and homebuyers ● Ensure that volunteers and homebuyers complete all required paperwork (waivers, login sheets, time-tracking forms, etc.
) ● Educate new volunteers about the Butte Habitat affiliate, its mission, and the Habitat for Humanity model, and thank them for their contribution and partnership ● Lead, supervise and coach volunteers and homebuyers in construction tasks ● Give clear direction and set a consistent standard of acceptable craftsmanship ● Ensure that volunteers and homebuyers are safe, productive, and in good spirits while on a Habitat job site ● Understand the elements that contribute to successful volunteers and help to ensure that volunteers have a consistently positive experience, thus motivating them to return ● Respond to specific skills and interests of individual volunteers and homebuyers ● Check volunteers’ work and provide positive feedback so jobs are done correctly ● Exercise appropriate involvement for each task: self-performing vs.

Activities require maintaining physical condition necessary for lifting up to 75 pounds, team lifting up to 200 pounds, ability to work on wet or uneven surfaces, and the physical agility necessary to construct a home.
Sufficient visual acuity and ability to hear is necessary to assure safe operations and activities on work sites.
May be regularly exposed to high decibel noise, such as power tools and heavy equipment.
Tasks will require ability to operate motorized equipment.
Additional Physical Actions: Standing, Bending, Climbing ladders, Lifting bulk objects, Using a wheelbarrow, Repetitive manual actions associated with hand tools, computer work and driving.
