Summary:
The Lead Flooring Technician is responsible for installation of carpet, wood and vinyl flooring products, performing preventative maintenance and repair work on carpeting and flooring surfaces.
Essential Functions:
Manages, mentors, and supports a small team of Flooring Technicians.
Works directly with flooring supply vendors to ensure strong relationships and best pricing.
Generates timely and accurate estimates for all flooring jobs.
Works directly with Project Managers to ensure adherence to timelines and budget.
Installs a variety of flooring products, such as carpet, vinyl and wood.
Demonstrates responsible use and care for equipment, vehicles, tools, and other materials.
Operates assigned vehicle and various hand-held manual, electrical, and gas powered tools and equipment, i.
e.
, mixers, sprayers, rollers, caulking guns, scrapers, sand blasters, pressure washers, and sets up scaffolding as needed.
Works independently with little supervision in the completion of assignments.
Establishes and maintains customer oriented focus.
Communicates politely and effectively with, and in front of, customers.
Works as part of a team with supervisors and co-workers.
Uses and applies appropriate safety practices and procedures in the performance of duties, including fall protection.
Requisitions and/or purchases supplies and materials, while maintaining various activity records and logs.
Complies with all applicable state, federal, and local laws related to the position.
Regular attendance.
Travel and work overtime as required.
Other Functions:
Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Supports and helps other floor specialists and maintenance employees as requested.
Assists on special projects as needed.
Ensures that Company tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in proper working condition.
Mental and Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies, tools, equipment, and furniture weighing up to 50 lbs.
Standing up to 8 hours per day; Walking up to 8 hours per day.
Regular and repetitive grasping, gripping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, squatting, and kneeling.
Ability to read and understand product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage small team of Flooring Technicians.
Instructs Team on best techniques and procedures for maximum efficiency.
Ensures timely submission and accuracy of Team’s timesheets.
Ensures maximum efficiency of Team through accurate scheduling.
Ensures adherence to all safety procedures and company policies.

Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to carry out assignments.

Advanced personal skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
Current California Driver’s License with excellent driving history.
