Momona is a noodle and bao restaurant located in downtown Chico, started in 2015.
The restaurant was originally located on 3rd Street; however, in the summer of 2023 Momona designed and expanded into its current location on Main Street.
The restaurant’s inspiration comes from the Asia-Pacific region and is a representation of our mixedness.
It's shared memories - from saimin at Zippy's to ramen ticket machines in Shibuya to night markets in Taipei.
Momona is our personal view of, and relationship with noodle, bao, and other foods from these regions.

*Get to Know This Role* The General Manager role at Momona is essential to the restaurant’s success.
As the leader of the restaurant, the GM role is a problem solver, a team motivator, the nexus of communication for the Head Chef, team, and the owners, and sets the tone for the restaurant within our community.
The GM is responsible for the day to day operations, managing the details, and creating a positive working culture.
Leadership, adaptability, holistic decisiveness, composure, integrity, and innate drive are essential qualities for this role.
*What You Will Do* * Manages the overall day to day operations for the restaurants, problem solves daily issues and creates systems for long term success * Effectively communicating with all staff anything relative or pertinent to their working environment, upcoming restaurant information, general needs, information from the owners, etc.
* Manage the schedule for FOH and the Bar and maintain budgeted labor hours; communicate with the owners any major changes to the schedule or changes in the team * Supports the Bar and Floor Leads and the entire restaurant by providing them with systems and resources for the day to day operation such as cleaning lists, inventory lists, daily checklists, etc.
* Evaluate the performance of the team in the day to day operations and deliver performance reviews annually/bi-annually * Evaluates the staffing needs of the restaurant consistently to ensure proper staffing levels that meet the demand of the public and the budget’s requirements.
Posts, interviews, hires, onboards, and ensures training of all new employees.
* Responsible for team’s performance, resolving any staff conflicts, and ultimately separating with a team member if necessary following the policies of the Momona Employee Handbook * Creating and maintaining a culture of respect, inclusivity, diversity, empowerment, and professionalism * Manages, strategizes and works closely with the Head Chef daily * Conduit to Admin Manager for the restaurant’s human resource needs such as job descriptions, payroll information, written warnings or HR documentation, safety incident report, etc.
* Ensuring effective communication with the Admin Manager for any invoice or check needs * Communicate and schedule with vendors for the restaurants, including the restaurant’s general maintenance.
* Manage overall ordering for the restaurant along with the Head Chef and Bar Manager to ensure correct pars are available and the restaurant’s purchases stay within budget * Ensuring a clean, organized, and safe working space by maintaining systems of organizing and cleaning the office, staff areas, storage areas, bathrooms, bar and FOH areas, and all guest facing areas * Maintain backend of point of sale system updating any pricing changes, item changes, etc.
Troubleshoot any POS, printer, or website issues and coordinate with Admin Manager to find solutions * Serve as the face of the restaurant to the community whether that is in day to day guest relations, fielding community donations, coordinating DCBA participation, or seeking new business partnership opportunities.
The General Manager also manages the restaurant's general email address and works directly with our social media coordinator.
* Coordinating and growing our events business by executing and promoting our lanai rentals, large party reservations, or restaurant events such as Trivia Night.
Generate marketing opportunities through events.
* Assist BOH with planning of events, menu development, menu design, and menu execution * Coordinate and manage weekly Manager Meetings, creating the agenda, keeping the meeting on track, and following up with action items with each department * Attend weekly meetings with owners to communicate effectively restaurant updates and needs.
Coordinate talking points agenda with Head Chef prior to meetings *What’s Required* * 5 years experience working in fast pace, full service restaurants * At least 2 years supervisory experience * Strong leadership, systems based, organizational skills * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills * Ability to positively and actively engage with guests * Ability to effectively use digital systems including point of sales, google suite, email, etc.
* Ability to work successfully in all areas of the restaurant with all employees * Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment * Must be 21 years old to apply and have a Manager’s Serv Safe and Responsible Beverage Server certification within one month of hire Job Type: Full-time Pay: $48,000.
