JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Responsibilities:
Contractual understanding of scope of work, job requirements and restrictions for all project work being performed.
Have good judgement regarding site, terrain, and weather conditions for safe equipment operation.
Competent and capable operator of all equipment- able to perform and produce with the crew on a daily basis.
Able to train and access new and seasoned employees in the use of heavy forestry equipment as appropriate for each project.
Meet daily production goals per project.
Responsible for filling out a daily report of personnel and equipment hours and report to administration support.
Manage all aspects of crew compliance.
Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and managers; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Manage all timecards, each assigned crew member must fill out daily by crew and signed off.
Able to train and assist crew members in filling out timecards.
Maintain compliance for all rest and meal breaks.
Properly document all disciplinary write up for any employee that has conducted a policy violation(s) and report the disciplinary write up to the HR Department immediately.
Ability to verbally instruct, coach, or redirect assigned crew members as needed.
Reviewed and understands the Employee Handbook, Safety Handbook, and company policies and procedures.
Responsible for safety training and oversight.
Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
Safety Compliance: Understanding and training of assigned crew(s) of helicopter rescue plan, GPS evacuation site.
Must be trained in CPR, First Aid, and able to instruct crew of responsibilities during an incident or injury situation.
Responsible for properly stocked first aid kits and location.
Equipment repairs, maintenance, and damage avoidance.
Responsible for holding weekly tailgate meetings, documentation, and submitting completed training records.
Ensures that the job site is left in safe condition.
Responsible for all documentation, investigation and reporting of all incidents or injuries no matter how small.
Submit all reports and follow through until closure of the incident or injury.
Daily oversight of equipment maintenance performing inspections throughout the day on equipment to check and maintain scheduled oil changes, filter replacement, inventory of all needed supplies, IE oil filters, oil, bar chains, filter tools, etc.
To perform operation on site to keep production running smoothly.
Continuous safety checks on the equipment (seat belt, fire extinguisher, lights, etc.
) to ensure equipment is working properly and safely.
Inspect all attachments to the machinery to ensure that they are operational and take the appropriate steps to correct.
Ability to execute planning for mobilization for the projects.
Housekeeping – Clean job site, clean vehicles, and equipment.
Transportation – Roads brushed, watered, and in good shape to facilitate hauling.
Proper dispatch of daily trucks, timely loading of trucks, collection of paperwork.
Fire Mitigation- Proper use of fire equipment and tools.
Properly equipped fire trailer and equipment.
Working with Clint to inspect fire equipment per contract.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Thorough understanding of quality forestry practices.
Ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.

Physical demands: The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Able to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
Must have good visual and auditory physical capabilities to manage sight and sounds in a hazardous construction environment.
Able to push, pull, climb, sit, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the job.
Able to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicable.
Ability to work around loud noises.
Coordination between hands, eyes, feet to guide equipment and objects is required.
Must be able to mount and dismount safely off vehicles and equipment.
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work overtime as requested.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel and Work Hours Required Position travels outside the local area but usually within Northern California up to 30 to 40% of the time.
Ability to work a schedule of either 5 days 10 hours per day or 6 days 12 hours per day.
Or a fire response schedule in which the schedule varies depending upon the immediate emergency.
Required Education and Experience: 2-5 years’ experience running Heavy Machinery.
2-5 years’ experience in supervision role and responsibility.
Preferred Education and Experience: High School education or equivalent (Preferred) A job for which military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Forestry: 1 year (Preferred) Heavy equipment operator: 3 years (Preferred) Mechanical Knowledge: 2 years (Preferred) Additional Eligibility Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license.
A commercial Driver’s License Class A.
Clean Driving Record: 5 years (Required).
Must pass pre-employment Drug Screen, and as a Commercial Driver participate in all DOT mandated drug and alcohol random testing.
Enrolled in the FMCSA clearing house with a clean history record.
