POSITION SUMMARY:
The Trauma Services Manager is responsible for the oversite and authority of the program, in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director and Quality & Safety leadership.
This role is responsible for the development, education, implementation, management, and discharge preparation of all trauma patients.
They work collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director in ensuring that the program offers high-quality, cost-effective care to all patients by monitoring the standard of practice and patient outcomes.
They oversee all phases of trauma care from pre-hospital to discharge, this includes, but is not limited to, trauma patient rounding, trauma performance improvement, trauma program safety plan, evaluation of the program, the trauma registry, outreach education, injury prevention and integration with regional development.
The Manager oversees the accurate and complete data entry into the trauma registry and completion of reports by the Trauma Services Performance Improvement Nurse.
They act as a liaison between the medical staff, nursing staff, allied health professional’s pre-hospital personnel, LEMSA, and the community to facilitate a team approach to the care of the trauma patient.
Prepares and maintains trauma program for American College of Surgeons (ACS) Level II trauma center re-verification by following the up-to-date standards from ACS.
They facilitate Trauma Quality Improvement Program to identify areas of improvement and develop appropriate action plans.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
* Three years of RN experience in Emergency Department or critical care nursing
* One year of supervisory or management experience/training
Desired:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
* Knowledge of CA Title 22 trauma systems and/or ACS trauma verification requirements
* Experience coordinating trauma services.
* Trauma response experience
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
* Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
* Current CPR certification
* Current ACLS certification (within 1 year of hire)
* Current PALS certification (within 1 year of hire)
* Current MICN (Mobile Intensive Care Nurse) certification with SSVEMS region (within 1 year of hire)
* Current TNCC or advanced trauma course (within 1 year of hire) (dept tracks)
Desired:
* Current CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) or TCRN (Trauma Care Registered Nurse) certification.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of regulatory processes (TJC, EMTALA, CMS Conditions of Participation, and California Code of Regulations Title 22).
Must have excellent oral and written communication and instructional skills.
Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing care for patients in appropriate age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Adolescent, Pediatric and/or Neonatal, and specialty of trauma.
Demonstrates leadership ability and high professional standards.
Must be well organized, able to set priorities, work independently and serve as an effective team member.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Statistical/data management skills.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact in a professional manner with administration, medical staff, and hospital personnel as well as external customers.
