Job/Department Summary: Under general direction from the Director of Student Life and Leadership, the incumbent is relied upon to provide oversight, direction, and recommend solutions to sensitive and potentially critical issues.
Incumbent is expected to independently resolve complex problems through use of highly developed communication skills and personal contact, often after researching information; will interact with highly visible student groups such as the Interfraternity Council (IFC), College Panhellenic Council (CPC) sorority organizations, Multicultural Council (MGC) culturally based fraternities and sororities, as well as potential interest groups, helping them identify problems, think through the implication and provide solutions, evaluate past occurrences, and reach appropriate decisions.
Incumbent deals with complex and sensitive situations, uses sound professional judgment and successful counseling techniques to effectively interact with college-age students.
Will represent Student Life and Leadership on selected University and community committees, boards, task forces and the media.
Work will include late night, early morning, and weekend commitments as situations dictate/require.
Required Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
AND Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.
A Master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.
Preferences: Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: Bilingual.
Master’s degree in a job-related field.
Experience managing large-scale public events.
Experience and/or involvement with a Fraternity or Sorority.
Time Base: Full-time Pay Plan: 12/12 Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $60,300 - $85,908 per year.
