ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Program Assistant is responsible for supervising campers age 7-14
and aiding instructors through the activities of the program.
The employee is under the direct
supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator in Chico State’s Professional and Continuing Education.
1.
Work directly with the campers by directing and assisting to classrooms/buildings, to and from
lunch each day and supervising in the classroom.
2.
Greet participants and parents daily.
3.
Notify Program Coordinator of any problems that may arise.
4.
Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
5.
Be familiar with and follow the guidelines set forth in the program catalog and parent
paperwork.
6.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
7.
Perform the job safely.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Including but not limited to:
• All instructors will have experience (academically, professionally, or personally) in the program
they are applying to teach.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or being a ‘professional’ in the field
of the program for 5+ years
• An interest in working with youth ages 7-14
• Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, youth,
parents, peer instructors, and CSU, Chico employees
• Good oral communication skills
• Ability to work under supervision
• Ability to provide accurate work on a timely basis
• Ability to perform required duties with initiative, good judgement, accuracy, persistence,
integrity, dependability, tact, and courtesy.
COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required
for employment.
Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which
may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is
discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
Failure to
satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a
current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.
